Healthy Eye

Parts of the eye

The light enters the eye through the transparent cornea. A small opening in the iris (the colored part of the eye) which is called pupil guides the light directly to the lens. The lens focuses the light on the retina at the back of the eye. Optic signals are sent through the optic nerve fibers at the visual cortex, the part of the brain where everything we see is formed.

The front part of the eye is filled with a transparent fluid called aqueous humor. Part of this fluid is drained and replaced by new fluid. In this way there is a continuous flow that keeps the eye pressure in normal levels.

Healthy draining

Aqueous humor is produced in the ciliary body and flows through the iris and the anterior chamber. Then is lead through the small draining holes of the trabeculum into the blood stream
